What inspectors found, January 2019
Lyndale Residential Home was rated Good; inspectors found safe, kind and person-centred care with strong support for mental health and independence.
This was an unannounced, comprehensive inspection on 07 November 2018. Inspectors observed daily care, spoke with 10 of the 15 people living there, met staff and reviewed care plans, medicines records, training and quality checks. They also sought views from health and social care professionals.
The inspectors found people felt safe and were supported by enough staff. Medicines were managed safely, the home was clean, and staff understood people's mental health needs. Care plans recorded people's risks, preferences, goals and the support they needed when their health changed.
People described the care very positively. Staff supported people to make choices, keep relationships, join activities, use community services and build daily living skills. The home also worked closely with health professionals.
All five areas were rated Good: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. The overall rating stayed Good, as it had been at the previous inspection in May 2016. The report found no serious risks or concerns.
Support for independence
Care plans recorded people's goals and the practical support needed to help them remain as independent as possible.

Kind and respectful care
