About The Care Home Directory
Choosing a care home is hard enough without having to ring twenty of them to find out what they charge. The Care Home Directory lists every care home registered with the Care Quality Commission in England and collects the weekly fees homes publish or confirm to us, so families can compare before they visit.
Where the information comes from
Names, addresses, bed numbers, the type of care and CQC ratings come from the CQC’s public register and are refreshed every month. Fees come from three places: the home’s own website, the home confirming them to us, or our team adding them from a brochure or a phone call. Each fee shows its source and date.
Typical fees for an area are the median of the homes there with a fee on record, and are only shown once at least three homes qualify. We never present an area figure as a particular home’s own fee.
Reviews are written by members of the public and read by a person before they are published. We remove reviews that are abusive, are not about the care, or that we cannot stand behind.
Who runs it
The Care Home Directory is built and run by PrimeCarers Ltd, a UK introductory agency for live-in and hourly home care. We think families should see the full picture, including care at home, before they decide. Where we mention live-in care we say so plainly and show the price alongside the care home figures.
Care home managers can update their fees for free: see for care homes or email fees@thecarehomedirectory.co.uk.
