What inspectors found, April 2020

Walsingham Support - Holly Dyke is rated Outstanding; inspectors found exceptionally caring, responsive and well-led support, with safe and effective care rated Good.

This was an unannounced inspection on 10 February 2020. One inspector spoke with five of the six people living there, a relative and six staff. The inspector reviewed care, medicines, recruitment, training, staffing and management records.

People told inspectors they felt safe. The home had suitable risk assessments, safe medicines systems, appropriate staffing arrangements and clean surroundings. Staff were trained and understood people's health, communication and support needs.

The strongest findings were about caring, responsiveness and leadership. People were supported to make choices, build independence, take part in meaningful activities and maintain relationships. The overall rating was Outstanding. Safe and Effective were Good, while Caring, Responsive and Well-led were Outstanding.

    Staff put people's needs first and supported them to live as independently as possible. Inspectors found that staff helped people achieve personal goals and overcome barriers.

What inspectors found, August 2017

Rated Outstanding; inspectors found safe, respectful care, highly individual support and exceptionally strong management.

This was an unannounced inspection on 12 May 2017. One inspector met all six people living in the home, spoke with relatives and professionals, observed daily life, and checked care plans, medicines, staff records, safety records and quality checks.

The home was rated Good for Safe, Effective and Caring. Inspectors found suitable staffing, safe medicines management, trained staff, good support with health and nutrition, and respectful care that promoted dignity, choice and independence.

Responsive and Well-led were rated Outstanding. Care plans were detailed and personal. People were supported to pursue their own interests, use community facilities, keep in touch with family and become more independent. The home had a stable management team and thorough quality checks.

The overall rating improved from Good at the previous inspection in November 2014 to Outstanding. Safe, Effective and Caring stayed Good. Well-led remained Outstanding, while Responsive improved from Good to Outstanding.
