CQC report explained · a residential care home
What the CQC found at Thornlea Rest Home
Rated Good: inspectors found the home performing well and meeting their expectations.
What inspectors found, June 2018
Thornlea Rest Home was rated Good; inspectors found safe, kind and personalised care, with no serious risks or concerns.
The inspection was unannounced and took place on 11 April 2018. Inspectors spoke with people living at the home, relatives, managers and staff. They observed care, checked the building, and reviewed care records, medicines, staff files, training and safety records.
All five areas were rated Good: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. People and relatives said they felt safe and comfortable. Inspectors found the home clean and well maintained, medicines given safely, enough staff on duty, and staff who were trained and respectful.
Care plans were based on people's abilities, preferences and wishes. People were involved in their care, offered choices about food and activities, and supported to maintain relationships. The home had worked with the local hospice on end of life care and used audits and feedback to monitor quality.
The home was also rated Good at the previous inspection on 4 November 2015. The report says there was no evidence from this inspection or ongoing monitoring of serious risks or concerns.
