What inspectors found, March 2019

Rated Outstanding; inspectors found exceptionally caring, responsive and well-led support, with safe and effective care rated Good.

This was an unannounced, scheduled inspection on 12 February 2019. One inspector spoke with four people, three relatives and staff and managers. They reviewed care records, staff files, medicines, accidents, audits and safety documents, and observed people and staff together.

The home supports seven men with learning disabilities. Inspectors found people were safe, received their medicines as prescribed and had enough staff. Staff supported people to make choices, build skills and maintain their health.

Care was exceptionally kind and respectful. People were supported to lead full lives, keep relationships, use local services, attend college, work and go on holidays. Support was personalised and people were involved in decisions about their lives.

The overall rating was Outstanding. Safe and Effective were rated Good. Caring, Responsive and Well-led were rated Outstanding. The home had also been rated Outstanding at the previous inspection, published on 16 June 2016.

    Inspectors saw warm relationships and staff who knew people well. People were treated as individuals and given time and reassurance.
