The latest report, explained

What inspectors found, November 2018

St Ann's Lodge 2 was rated Good overall; inspectors found safe, kind and person-centred care across all five areas.

Inspectors visited on 12 July and 15 August 2018. The first visit was unannounced. They spoke with people living at the home, staff, managers, relatives and health professionals. They also checked care records, staff files, medicines, staffing, training, the building and management records.

They found enough staff, safe medicines systems, suitable risk assessments and safe recruitment checks. Staff had relevant training and supported people's health, nutrition, choices and independence. People were treated with kindness and respect, and staff knew their needs, wishes and routines well.

The home supported people to stay active, keep in touch with family and friends, and take part in holidays, college, day services and social activities. Care plans were detailed, person-centred and regularly reviewed. Managers were approachable and staff were positive about the leadership.

The overall rating was Good, with Good ratings for Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. The service had also been rated Good at the previous inspection in February 2016.
