What inspectors found, January 2019

Springfield Court Nursing Home was rated Outstanding overall; inspectors found good safe, effective and caring care, with outstanding responsiveness and leadership.

Inspectors visited without notice on 13 November 2018. They spoke with people living in the home, relatives, staff and visiting professionals. They observed care and checked six people's care records, medicines records, staff files, training records, complaints and quality checks.

The home was rated Good for Safe, Effective and Caring. Inspectors found people were protected from harm, medicines were managed well, staff were trained, care was personalised and people were treated with kindness, dignity and respect.

Responsive and Well-led were rated Outstanding. Inspectors found highly personalised activities, strong support for independence, thoughtful end of life care and very good links with the local community. The home had improved from an overall Good rating at the previous inspection in May 2016.

    Staff understood people's histories, preferences and wishes. Inspectors saw care that helped people maintain their identity, independence and control.

    The home offered many activities and used creative ideas to keep people involved. Events were also streamed to bedrooms for people who could not leave them.
