CQC report explained · a residential care home
What the CQC found at Springfield Care Home Limited
Rated Good: inspectors found the home performing well and meeting their expectations.
What inspectors found, January 2022
Springfield Care Home Limited was inspected but not rated; inspectors found good infection control, visiting arrangements and measures to manage COVID-19 staffing pressures.
This was an announced, targeted inspection on 12 January 2022. Inspectors gave 24 hours' notice and looked at infection prevention and control, visiting arrangements and staffing pressures linked to COVID-19.
Inspectors were assured that the home was using personal protective equipment safely, arranging testing, managing infections and supporting visits. They were also assured that people were admitted safely and that the infection control policy was up to date.
The home had two visitor pods, extra staffing above its assessed dependency needs and a COVID-19 lead to help staff complete testing correctly. The service was inspected but not rated, so this report does not provide a full quality rating.
Safer visiting
The home had two visitor pods with booked time slots. These were spaced out to reduce possible infection transmission and allow cleaning between visits.
“The service had two visitor pods where they could book in at a time that suited people.” from the report
Extra staffing
The home had staffing levels above the required dependency level. This was intended to provide cover during a possible COVID-19 outbreak or staff sickness.
“The service provided staffing levels above their required dependency for the amount of people living at the home.” from the report
Support with testing
A COVID-19 lead helped staff and residents follow the testing system and addressed inconclusive results by checking that tests were registered and completed correctly.
“The lead had been implemented in response to staff receiving inconclusive results and took an active role in ensuring tests were registered and conducted in the correct way.” from the report
Inspectors raised no specific concerns in this report.
