What inspectors found, November 2019

Rated Good in all five areas; inspectors found safe, kind and personalised care, with no breaches reported.

This was an unannounced inspection on 22 October 2019. One inspector spoke with five people living at the home, one staff member and the registered manager. They reviewed two care records and records about how the home was managed.

Inspectors found people were safe and that there were enough trained staff. Medicines were stored, given and recorded safely. People were supported to make choices, stay independent, eat well and use health services when needed.

People described staff as kind and supportive. Care plans were personalised and reviewed. People could take part in activities, make complaints and help shape changes at the home.

The home was rated Good overall and Good for Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. This was the same rating as the previous inspection on 27 April 2017.

What inspectors found, April 2017

Rated Good in all five areas; inspectors found safe, kind and personalised care, with environmental improvements still in progress.

The inspection was unannounced and took place on 28 March 2017. One inspector spoke with four people living at the home, the manager and two care staff. The inspector also reviewed two care records and records about how the home was managed.

People told inspectors they felt safe and were treated kindly. The home had systems to manage risks, protect people from abuse and handle medicines safely. Staffing and recruitment arrangements were also considered suitable.

Inspectors found that people received care suited to their needs. People were supported with meals, healthcare, activities, friendships and greater independence. Staff understood people's preferences, and people knew how to complain.

The home was rated Good overall and Good in all five areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. This was unchanged from the previous inspection in September 2015.
