What inspectors found, February 2019

Magnolia Lodge was rated Good in all areas; inspectors found safe, kind and personalised care with strong management.

This was an unannounced planned inspection on 28 January 2019. One inspector observed care, spoke with five people living there, a relative and seven staff, and reviewed care plans, medicines, staffing, complaints, accidents and quality checks. Further information was requested after the visit.

The inspectors found enough staff, safe medicines practice, suitable risk assessments and clean premises. Staff were trained and supported people's health, communication, choices, dignity and independence. Care plans were detailed and personalised, and activities reflected people's abilities and preferences.

The service was rated Good for Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. This means the inspectors found consistently good outcomes and that legal requirements were met in the areas examined. The rating was unchanged from the previous inspection, published on 16 August 2016.

    Staff were described as dedicated, caring and knowledgeable. Inspectors found that they knew people well and treated them respectfully.
