What the CQC found at Kings Den

Goodpublished 17 April 2026, 5 months ago

Rated Good: inspectors found the home performing well and meeting their expectations.

The latest report, explained

What inspectors found, August 2022

Rated Requires Improvement; inspectors found kind, person-centred care but important safety, recruitment and management systems were not reliable enough.

This was the home's first inspection. It was an unannounced comprehensive inspection on 29 and 30 June 2022. One inspector observed care, spoke with people, staff and professionals, and checked care records, medicines, recruitment files, audits and safety checks.

People and professionals spoke positively about the care and leadership. Staff knew people well, supported their independence and helped them take part in activities, education, work and community life. The ratings for Effective, Caring and Responsive were Good.

The home did not always manage risks, medicines, infection control or recruitment safely. Records were not always current, and quality checks did not reliably find these problems. The provider started an improvement plan and took some action during the inspection, but the overall rating was Requires Improvement.

The Safe and Well-led ratings were Requires Improvement. The report says this gave limited assurance about safety and meant there was an increased risk that people could be harmed, although inspectors found no evidence that people had been harmed.

What inspectors were concerned about

Inspectors raised no specific concerns in this report.

This was an unannounced comprehensive inspection of the newly registered home, covering all five key questions and infection prevention and control under Safe; this was the first inspection, so there were no previous ratings to carry over. This explanation was written from the published report of 10 August 2022 by an AI system and checked against the report text: every quoted line appears in the report.
