What inspectors found, March 2018
High Lodge Care Home was rated Good; inspectors found safe, kind and personalised care, with no evidence of significant risks or concerns.
Inspectors visited the home without notice on 20 February 2018. They observed care, spoke with four people, three relatives and staff, and checked five people's care records, staff files and quality checks.
They found that people were safe and that there were enough staff. Medicines, equipment and infection control were managed safely. Staff were trained, people received suitable food and health support, and the home supported choice and independence.
People were treated kindly and with dignity. Staff knew people's needs and preferences, activities were available, and complaints and end of life care arrangements were in place. The home was also found to be well managed and to use feedback and checks to make improvements.
The overall rating was Good, as were all five areas inspected: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. This was the same rating as at the previous inspection on 26 January 2016.
Safe medicines and staffing
Inspectors found enough staff to support people and effective systems for storing, giving and recording medicines.
