What inspectors found, January 2019
Goldthorn Lodge was rated Good; inspectors found safe, caring and well-managed support with no serious risks or concerns.
This was an unannounced inspection on 17 December 2018. One inspector reviewed care records, medicines records, quality checks and other information. They spoke with people, relatives, staff and visiting professionals, and observed care.

All five areas were rated Good: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. The rating remained Good from the previous inspection, and inspectors found no evidence of serious risks or concerns.

- 01How do you decide how many staff are needed for my relative, particularly if they have behaviours that may place them or others at risk?
- 02If my relative needs medicines given without their knowledge, how will you involve relatives, health professionals and a pharmacist in the decision?
- 03How will you communicate with my relative if they need simple language, clear body language or other specific support?
- 04How will you involve my relative and our family in reviewing care plans and future end of life wishes?
- 05How can we raise a complaint, and how will we be kept informed about the response?
