What inspectors found, September 2018

Garth Brow (Adult Care Home) rated Good; inspectors found safe, kind and personalised care, with no serious risks or concerns identified.

Inspectors visited on 2 August 2018. The visit was announced because this is a small home and people are often out during the day. They spoke with all five people living there, five care staff and the registered manager. They also checked care records, staff recruitment and training records, and the home's quality and safety checks.

The inspectors found that people were safe and supported by enough trained staff. Medicines were recorded and stored safely. People received help with health appointments, meals, activities and maintaining relationships. Staff treated people kindly, respected their choices and supported independence.

The home was rated Good in all five areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. This means the inspectors found the service met the relevant standards at the time of this inspection. The rating remained Good from the previous inspection.

    Care was focused on each person's needs, rights and independence. People were supported to make choices and take part in ordinary community life.
