What inspectors found, July 2023
Galtee More Residential Home Ltd is rated Good; inspectors found safe, kind and personalised care, although some parts of the building still needed renovation and decoration.
Inspectors visited on 23 May and 12 June 2023. They spoke with people, staff and relatives, observed care, and checked care, medicines and management records. The visit was unannounced.
The home was rated Good in all five areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. Inspectors found people looked relaxed and comfortable, staff were kind, risks were managed, medicines were recorded safely and people's care was personalised.
The new provider had begun refurbishing the home. Some areas still needed renovation and decoration, but inspectors found the environment safe and said checks and an improvement plan were in place.
The previous inspection in January 2020 rated the service Good but recommended improvements to complaints handling and governance. Inspectors found these areas had improved, and the Well-led rating rose from Requires Improvement to Good.
Kind, comfortable care
People appeared relaxed and comfortable. Staff spent time talking with people and were observed providing kind, positive support.

Personalised support
Care records included people's needs, preferences, history and communication requirements. Staff were observed following care guidance.

Safe medicines and risk management
Risks were assessed and staff had guidance to reduce avoidable harm. Medicines were recorded, checked and audited.

People and relatives were involved in care decisions. The home offered communal and one-to-one activities and welcomed visitors.

The provider had introduced quality checks and taken more responsibility for overseeing the home. The Well-led rating improved from Requires Improvement to Good.
