Rated Good; inspectors found safe, kind and person-centred care, with all five areas rated Good.
This was an unannounced inspection of the home. The inspection team spoke with 14 residents, relatives, staff and healthcare professionals. They observed care, checked the environment and reviewed care, medicines, recruitment, training and management records.
Inspectors found people were safe and cared for by enough trained staff. Medicines were managed safely. The home was clean, people received suitable food and healthcare support, and staff respected people's privacy, dignity and choices.
Care was described as highly personalised. Inspectors found a wide range of activities, quick responses when people's needs changed, and consistently compassionate end of life care. The home was rated Good in Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. The previous inspection rating was also Good.
Personalised care
Staff involved people in care planning and tailored support to their individual needs, choices and preferences.

Staffing and safety
Inspectors found enough staff and saw them respond promptly. Extra staff were available at busy times and when people needed additional support.

What inspectors found, June 2017
Croftfield Residential Care Home is rated Good; inspectors found safe, kind and responsive care, with all five areas rated Good.
This was an unannounced inspection on 26 April 2017. One inspector spoke with eight people and five staff, reviewed four care plans, staff records, policies, audits and other documents, and looked around the home.
Inspectors found that medicines were stored, given and recorded properly. There were enough staff, recruitment checks were completed, and staff knew how to recognise and report abuse. People received support with food, drink, health needs and important decisions.
Staff were described and observed as kind, respectful and familiar with people's preferences. Care plans were clear, regularly reviewed and based on people's needs. People could take part in activities and make complaints, and there were no outstanding complaints.
The registered manager and deputy provided a clear management structure. The home used checks, questionnaires and audits to monitor quality. The overall rating was Good, and each of the five areas was also rated Good.
Medicines handled safely
Inspectors found that medicines were stored correctly, given by trained staff and recorded accurately. Plans were also in place for medicines given when needed.

Staff took time to speak with people and knew their preferences and support needs. Inspectors saw care being given in a relaxed, warm and friendly manner.
