What inspectors found, April 2020

Crest Lodge Care Centre Limited was rated Good, with safe, kind and personalised care across all five areas.

This was an unannounced, planned inspection on 28 January 2020. Four inspectors, a specialist nurse adviser and an Expert by Experience spoke with people, a relative and staff. They observed care and reviewed care plans, medicines records, incident records, policies, audits and training information.

The home supported people with mental health diagnoses and had 40 people living there during the inspection. Inspectors found that people were safe, treated kindly and involved in decisions about their care. Staff supported people to stay independent, follow their interests, practise their faith and take part in the local community.

Inspectors found safe recruitment, suitable staffing, well-managed risks and medicines, good infection control and effective action after accidents. Staff were trained and supported, people's health and dietary needs were understood, and complaints were handled appropriately.

The home was rated Good in Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. The previous overall rating was also Good, published on 28 April 2018, and all five ratings remained Good at this inspection.

    Staff supported people to achieve personal goals that had a clear positive effect on their wellbeing and mental health.
