Compton House Christian Nursing Home was rated Outstanding; inspectors found exceptionally caring, responsive and well-led support, with safe and effective care rated Good.

This was an unannounced inspection on 3 May 2018. Inspectors spoke with people living in the home, visitors, relatives, staff, the management team and healthcare professionals. They also checked care records, medicines records, staff records, audits and incident reports.

The home was rated Outstanding overall. Caring, responsive and well-led were rated Outstanding. Safe and effective were rated Good. Inspectors found kind staff, enough suitably trained staff, safe medicines systems, coordinated healthcare and a wide range of meaningful activities.

People were involved in decisions about their care and the running of the home. Inspectors found that feedback was listened to and acted on. They also found strong quality checks and a clear focus on learning and ongoing improvement.

The home had previously been rated Good at the inspection on 14 December 2015. The overall rating had improved to Outstanding at this inspection.

    People had many opportunities to take part in activities, trips, community events and hobbies that gave their days purpose.
