What inspectors found, June 2022
Clifton Court was rated Outstanding in every area; inspectors found exceptionally safe, caring, effective and personalised support.
This was an unannounced inspection that began on 9 March 2022. One inspector spoke with people living there, a relative, staff and outside professionals. They also checked care plans, medicines records, staff files and the home's management records.
The home supports up to seven people with acquired brain injury. Six people were living there during the inspection. Inspectors found a calm, welcoming and homely service, with staff who knew people well and supported their independence, choices and personal goals.
Inspectors found strong safety systems, well-managed medicines, enough trained staff, clean premises and good infection control. They also found personalised activities, effective work with health professionals and regular checks to improve the service.
The home received an Outstanding rating overall and Outstanding ratings for Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. This was the first inspection of the newly registered service. The previous provider had also been rated Outstanding in 2017.
Personalised support
Staff understood people's individual needs, histories and risks. Care plans were regularly reviewed and helped people work towards greater independence.

Kind and respectful care
People were treated with dignity and involved in decisions about their lives and care. Inspectors saw a calm and friendly atmosphere.

Strong staff team
The home had stable staffing, robust recruitment and extensive training specific to people's health conditions. Staff said they felt supported and were able to provide care without rushing.

Activities were based on people's interests and therapeutic needs. Staff supported people to exercise, join community activities and develop useful skills.
