The latest report, explained

What inspectors found, April 2018

Rated Good overall, with Outstanding responsiveness; inspectors found caring, safe support that was tailored closely to people's lives.

This was an unannounced inspection on 7 March 2018. One inspector visited the home, spoke with six people, staff, the manager, relatives and healthcare professionals, and reviewed care records and quality checks.

The home supported younger adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs. Inspectors found people were safe, staff understood their needs, medicines were managed safely and people received kind, respectful care.

The strongest area was responsiveness, which improved to Outstanding. People had individual activities, flexible routines and support to build independence, join in with their community and maintain relationships. The other four areas remained Good.

What inspectors praised

People had flexible timetables based on their interests and goals. They were supported to take part in activities, trips and holidays that mattered to them.

“Medicine administration records we viewed had been completed accurately and were up to date.” from the report
  • Accessible communication

Care plans and information were available in formats people could understand, including pictures and easy-read documents. Staff used people's communication styles to understand their wishes.

  • Quality monitoring

The provider and manager carried out regular checks and acted on feedback and identified improvements. Staff and families were able to share their views.
