What inspectors found, February 2022
49 Oakdale Road rated Good; inspectors found safe, kind and personalised care, with some communal areas needing redecoration.
This was an unannounced inspection on 01 February 2022. Two inspectors spoke with one person using the service, two relatives and four staff members. They reviewed care, medicines, recruitment, training and management records.
The home supported seven people, with capacity for eight. Inspectors found that people were safe, treated with kindness and supported to make choices, build independence and take part in activities. Medicines, staffing, infection control and safeguarding arrangements were found to be good.
All five areas were rated Good: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. This means inspectors found consistently good care and management at the time of the inspection. The report says this was the first inspection of the newly registered service, while the previous provider had also been rated Good in 2018.
Choice and independence
People were supported to make choices, take appropriate risks and build everyday skills. Staff encouraged people to do as much as they could for themselves.

Care plans included people's histories, preferences, communication methods and changing needs. Relatives were involved in developing the plans.
