What inspectors found, February 2018
104 Tennyson Road was rated Good; inspectors found safe, kind and personalised care across all five areas.
This was an unannounced comprehensive inspection on 6 December 2017. One inspector and an expert by experience observed care, activities and lunch. They spoke with five people, managers and staff, and checked care plans, medicines records, staff files and quality checks.
The home supported up to eight people with mental health needs, and all eight places were in use. Inspectors found enough trained staff, safe medicines systems, risk assessments, suitable support with food and healthcare, and correct procedures for consent and mental capacity.
People were treated kindly and respectfully. Care plans reflected people's backgrounds, needs and goals. People were supported to make choices, follow interests, keep in touch with others and complain if needed. The home was rated Good in Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led, remaining Good since the previous inspection.
Kind and respectful care
Staff spent time with people and understood their histories, preferences and relationships. People's privacy and dignity were respected.

Care plans included people's backgrounds, social and emotional needs and future goals. People were supported to make choices and work towards greater independence.
